Cranab Group is boosting its international investments and establishing a partly owned subsidiary in Brazil under the name Cranab Fassi do Brasil.
"We're already present in the South American market. As a local company, we will be an even more attractive alternative for the growing Brazilian forestry industry," says Cranab's CEO Fredrik Jonsson.
Brazil, the world's fifth largest nation by area, has a burgeoning forestry output. Climate, temperature and precipitation are all beneficial factors for the growth of the nation's commercial forestry.
"Nordic forestry working methods are different from Brazil's. Theirs is mostly about plantation forestry, which means specific requirements for equipment fleets. Customers make tough demands and we have learned a great deal during our earlier years in Brazil. Fassi's largest cranes, Vimek's forwarders and harvesters for thinning and Bracke Forest's planting machines are ideally suited for these conditions," says Fredrik Jonsson, Cranab CEO.
· Sustainable forestry
Cranab Group consists of Cranab, Slagkraft, Vimek and Bracke Forest, four brands that work together to be the world leaders in sustainable forestry from planting to final handling. The investment in Brazil is part of the group's increasing international focus. Cranab manufactures cranes and grapples, Slagkraft grasscutter and bushcutter flails, Vimek small, nimble forestry machines for thinning, while Bracke Forest makes units for ground preparation, forest planting, seeding and biomass harvesting.
· Local experience
"In Brazil we work together with Cranab's new part-owner, Italian truck manufacturer Fassi Gru. Together we have products that cover a wide field and which make us flexible and attractive in many contexts in every part of forestry," says Fredrik Jonsson.
Cranab Fassi do Brasil's head office is located in Curitiba, an industrial city in southern Brazil with around 1.7 million inhabitants. The local part-owner and company CEO is Gilson Santos. He is a well-known operator in the Brazilian forestry equipment industry with almost 30 years' experience, among other things as CEO and part owner of Komatsu Forest do Brasil.
